The Certified Professional Retirement Coach Designation is a mark of excellence!  It provides the most ground breaking and innovating course work, coupled with time-tested and proven methods for helping people make a successful transition from work-life to home life.

We believe that retirement is not only one of the most sought after and highly regarded phases of life, but also one of the least understood. Therefore, our goal is to moderize retirement by providing innovative training, tools, and resources that move the non-financial aspects of retirement into the forefront of the planning process.

The CPRC course and designation was originally created and launched in 2017. Since then, the course content has received minor, periodic updates, with a complete overhaul to its content in 2026. This was motivated by several factors including the fast-approaching reality of Gen X entering the retirement scene, breakthroughs in retirement research and the evolution of professional services just to name a few.

Recognized by the US Government agency, FINRA and as a CE approved course for ICF, SHRM and CFP, the CPRC course work and designation stands above the rest for credibility and is the leading authority on retirement lifestyle planning.

The CPRC course, designation, and its assessment (the RQ) are part of the Retirement Project family and are delivered under the authorization of the Retirement Coaches Association (RCA). The RCA is a for-profit organization that provides education, standards, resources, and community for professionals from diverse backgrounds who share a common mission: modernizing retirement.

Our president, Robert Laura has been breaking down retirement planning walls and pushing boundaries with his books, guides, presentations and hundreds of articles for over two-decades. By comparison and volume, no one has waded through the mental, social, physical and spiritual aspects of retirement like he has, and the proof is in the course content.

He has also garnered a unique look at wealth and retirement by working with his own clients, interviewing numerous public figures, including Pastor Rick Warren, Deon Sanders, John Salley, gymnast Shannon Miller, golfer Anika Sorenstam, singer Amy Grant, HGTV stars Jonathon and Drew Scott just to name a few.

He has appeared on national TV, and is frequently quoted in major media outlets including, the Wall Street Journal, Financial Advisor Magazine, Investor’s Business Daily, Yahoo Finance, MarketWatch, USA Today, CNN and more.

He and his wife, Amie Laura, co-founded the RCA nearly a decade ago, and have hosted thought leaders and experts such as Ken Dycthwald (Age Wave), Richard Leider (The Power of Purpose), Joe Coughlin (MIT Age Lab) Dr Laura Carstensen (Stanford Center on Longevity) and Chip Conely (MEA) just to name a few.

Together, they have presented as guest faculty at Modern Elder Academy and combined have over 50 years’ experience working in the retirement lifestyle planning field. Along with her work with the RCA Amie serves as the Executive Director of the CPRC.

The CPRC has certified coaches around the globe and has been recognized by Life Coach Magazine as the Best Overall Retirement Coaching program for more than two consecutive years.
